How we cover Ventura County
We'll be direct about our footprint, because it's the first thing property managers ask.
Safety Host Unit is headquartered in Los Angeles County, with offices in Beverly Hills and Downtown Los Angeles. Our officers dispatch from Los Angeles, and a number of our officers live in Ventura County — which is how we staff early-morning posts in the Conejo Valley and the 101 corridor without a two-county commute built into every shift.
Our California Private Patrol Operator license, PPO #120547, is a statewide license. There is no separate licensing requirement for Ventura County, and no jurisdictional limit on where we can deploy in California.
What that means practically: for standing posts, recurring patrol, and scheduled events, our Ventura County coverage is identical to our Los Angeles coverage. For genuinely short-notice emergency dispatch, be aware we're coming from Los Angeles — 45 to 60 minutes to the Conejo Valley, 60 to 90 minutes to Oxnard and Ventura. If you need coverage within the hour, tell us on the call and we'll tell you honestly whether we can meet it.
Where we work
What we provide in Ventura County
- Standing guard posts — armed and unarmed officers for continuous coverage at commercial, residential, and industrial sites.
- Mobile patrol — marked vehicle patrol with documented checkpoint logs, for properties that don't need continuous presence.
- Warehouse and distribution security — gate and dock access control, yard and trailer checks, driver verification, overnight coverage. The 101 corridor and the Oxnard industrial districts are the concentration. (See our Oxnard Warehouse Security page.)
- Construction site security — overnight and weekend coverage, materials and equipment protection, access logging.
- Fire watch — required coverage during fire alarm or sprinkler system impairment, and standby coverage during elevated fire conditions. Ventura County's wildfire history makes this a recurring need, and we already cover it across both counties. (See our Fire Watch Guide.)
- Event security — private events, corporate functions, weddings, community gatherings, and venue coverage.
- Residential and HOA security — gated community access control, patrol, and standing posts.
- Executive protection — discreet close protection, coordinated with residence and travel security.
Armed and unarmed coverage
Both are available. Most Ventura County work we've done to date has been unarmed, which is typical — the majority of standing posts, patrol routes, and event coverage don't call for armed officers, and unarmed coverage costs less.
Armed coverage becomes worth discussing for cash-handling operations, high-value inventory, sites with a documented incident history, or specific threat situations. Every armed officer we deploy holds a current BSIS firearms permit alongside their guard card.
We'll tell you which we'd recommend and why. We won't sell you the more expensive option by default.
Why property managers in Ventura County call us
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you provide security services in Ventura County?
A: Yes. Safety Host Unit provides licensed armed and unarmed security across Ventura County, including Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Camarillo, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Ventura, Simi Valley, Moorpark, and Ojai. Our California PPO license (#120547) is statewide, with no separate county licensing requirement.
Q: Are you a local Ventura County security company?
A: We're a Los Angeles County company that covers Ventura County, and we'd rather say so plainly. Our offices are in Beverly Hills and Downtown Los Angeles, our officers dispatch from Los Angeles, and a number of our officers live in Ventura County. For standing posts, recurring patrol, and scheduled events, that model works without compromise. For immediate emergency dispatch, ask us about response time on the call and we'll give you a straight answer.
Q: How much does security cost in Ventura County?
A: Cost depends on officer count, hours, armed versus unarmed, and whether coverage is a standing post or scheduled patrol. Unarmed standing posts are the lowest-cost option and cover the majority of what property managers need. We quote after a walkthrough or a short call about the site.
Q: Do you provide warehouse security in Oxnard?
A: Yes. Distribution and logistics facilities along the 101 corridor and in the Oxnard industrial districts are a core part of our Ventura County work — gate and dock access control, yard and trailer checks, driver verification, and overnight coverage. See our Oxnard Warehouse Security page.
Q: Do you provide fire watch in Ventura County?
A: Yes. We provide fire watch coverage across both Ventura and Los Angeles County, including required coverage during fire alarm or sprinkler impairment and standby coverage during elevated fire conditions. See our Fire Watch Services.
Q: Are your officers licensed?
A: Yes. Safety Host Unit holds California Private Patrol Operator license PPO #120547, in good standing since February 2019. Every field officer holds a current BSIS-issued California guard card, and armed officers hold current firearms permits. The license is publicly verifiable through the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services.
Q: Can you cover properties in both Ventura and Los Angeles County?
A: Yes, and it's one of the more common reasons managers call us. A single contract, a single point of contact, and consistent officer standards across a portfolio that spans both counties.
